England's monarch, King Charles III, will be formally crowned on May 6, 2023. Food has become a part of the occasion in more ways than one. Food plays an official role, especially during the Coronation Lunch. Local communities are also holding "Big Lunches" to mark this historic occasion. On their Instagram page, the King and Queen Consort shared a recipe for "Coronation Quiche" to encourage people to "get involved with the Coronation Big Lunch". 


You can make this quiche at home as well:



  • Preheat the oven. Roll out 250g pastry and line a baking pan with it.

  • Line the pastry tin with parchment paper, then fill with baking beans. 

  • Bake for 15 minutes at 190 degrees Celsius.

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk, cream, eggs, herbs, and seasoning.Prepare the spinach by finely chopping it.

  • Spread half of the grated cheese on the blind-baked quiche base.

  • Add the spinach, broad beans, and tarragon now. 

  • Pour the milk-egg mixture over the filling next. Garnish with the remaining cheese.

  • Bake the quiche for about 20 minutes at 160°C.

  • When it's lightly golden, cut it into pieces and serve.
