Women also apply mehndi on their hands. Here are some easy tips to follow to get a beautiful darker mehndi stain:

1. Before applying henna (mehndi) on your hands, wash your hands thoroughly. This will remove all dust particles on your hands. When the hands are clean, the colour of the mehndi can get darker.

2. Sometimes people wash their hands just 2 to 3 hours after applying mehndi. Mehndi does not darken in a short span of time. Try to remove mehndi 5 to 6 hours after applying it. Also, avoid moving hands frequently.

3. When your mehndi dries up, apply lemon, sugar, and water solution to it. Applying this mixture helps the henna stay on the hands for a long time and it does not come out. It also darkens the colour of mehndi. To make this solution, add 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp lemon juice, and 1 tsp water and apply the mixture on mehndi with the help of cotton.

4. After applying mehndi on your hands, heat some cloves on a tawa/pan and let the heat from the same to come in contact with the mehndi on your hands. For this, add 3 to 4 cloves to the tawa/pan and heat your hands with the smoke emanating from it. This will make your mehndi very dark.

5. After the mehndi dries up, try not to wash your hands with water. Rub both hands together to remove mehndi. Avoid applying soap for the next 12 hours.

6. After removing mehndi, apply mustard oil to both hands. You can also add a little lime juice to mustard oil and apply it to your hands. This will make mehndi get a beautiful shade.
