New Delhi: Transgenders, who are still fighting for their existence in the country, face a lot of oppression in their daily life. But now, the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) has scheme of providing jobs to the transgenders, after the Kochi Metro will be operational. The transgenders will get jobs in crowd management, housekeeping and customer relations.

The transgenders will get the jobs in Kochi metro under the Kudumbasree initiative. Kudumbasree, backed by the Kerala government is an initiative, which aims for poverty reduction for females.

Reportedly, the Kochi Metro wants to make a well organised group of transgenders who can work and provide their services in customer relations, housekeeping and crowd management effectively, so that the commuters can travel in Kochi metro easily and comfortably.

There was a meeting held between the officials of KMRL and police, on Tuesday, after which the decision has been locked.

The aim of this decision is to rehabilitate the condition of the transgenders.

According to reports, there are around 128 transgenders in Kochi, whereas there are around 25,000 transgenders in the state. This move of the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL), will surely be considered as an optimistic step for transgenders in the fight of their identity.
