Janmashtami 2022 Exact Date: Around the country, people are preparing to celebrate the festival of Krishna Janmashtami with full zeal. On Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapad, a Hindu celebration commemorates Lord Krishna's birth anniversary. Krishna Janmashtami is also called Gokulashtami and Shrikrishna Jayanti as well.


This year will mark Lord Krishna's 5249th birth anniversary, according to the Vedic calendar. On this day, worshippers honour Lord Krishna as a little child, also known as Baal Gopal and Laddu Gopal. Baal Krishna is the son of every mother, as Bhagwat Gita says: “Krishna Belongs To Everyone.”


Devotees observe fasts, go to temples, pray to Lord Krishna, make special meals, decorate their houses and places of worship, and more to commemorate the occasion. 


Earlier, Janamashtami 2022 celebrations were planned for two days, August 18 and 19, due to the clash of exact tithi, however, recent announcements have made it clear that the celebrations are to be observed on August 19th only. 


The official Twitter handle of Dwarkadhish Temple has announced that the Janamashtami Utsav 2022 to be celebrated on August 19. 






The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) also took to Twitter to announce that the celebrations of Krishna Janmashtami are to be celebrated on Friday. They also shared Prime Minister’s message along with the festivities announcement. 





 
What Was The Confusion? 


On Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 09:21, the Krishna Paksha of the Bhadrapada month will begin, marking Ashtami. Ashtami Tithi will end at 10.50 pm on Friday, August 19, 2022.


Many people will celebrate Janmashtami on August 18 in accordance with their religious understanding that Krishna was born in the middle of the night, however, Janmashtami will officially be observed on August 19.


When Is The Muhrat Of Janamashtami? 


 The auspicious time of Shri Krishna Puja will be observed with the commencement of Ashtami tithi from 9:20 pm on August 18 till 10:59 pm on August 19.


Nishita Puja Time: 12:03 am to 12:47 am on August 20.
 
Fasting time - On fasting day, devotees take Sankalpa to observe a day-long fast and break it on the next day when both Rohini Nakshatra and Ashtami Tithi are over. Rohini Nakshatra Begins at 01:53 am on Aug 20, 2022, and it ends at 4:40 am on Aug 21, 2022
