New Delhi: YouTuber and Instagram influencer Scherezade 'Sherry' Shroff has recently started a petition urging Ola and Uber cabs to be 'pet-friendly'. Starting a petition on Change.org, Shroff narrated the plight of those who don’t have a car and have to rely on cabs for moving pets. The petition on pet-friendly rides in cabs has caught the attention of Bollywood celebrities including Gul Panag and other influencers as well.

Scherezade Shroff's Instagram post has received over 11 thousand likes and garnered hundreds of comments so far. Sharing her struggle of taking her pet in a cab, she wrote in the petition: “With Ubers & Olas most drivers will make you cancel once you ask if they are ok with a dog and then there’s the whole cancellation fee, rebooking and saying the same things to 4-5 drivers and begging them to take you.”

“It’s usually the same with Kalli Peelis (local taxi service in Mumbai) too as 3-4 will say no and finally someone will agree if you’re willing to pay more. And this is all after assuring them that I have a sheet to cover the seat, the dog is well behaved and that they won’t have any issues,” the YouTuber mentioned.

Meanwhile, ride-sharing platforms have responded to the petition being widely circulated on social media platforms.

Uber India responded to the message on Instagram saying it has shared the feedback with the relevant team to evaluate any potential scope for Uber Pets in India.

“We love our furry friends and completely understand your concerns. Currently, the decision of permitting pets in Uber cabs is at the discretion of our driver-partners and we recommend you to always check and confirm with them while booking to avoid any last-minute inconvenience,” the cab sharing platform wrote.

Ola cabs also responded to requests for pet-friendly rides and promised to look into the matter and work towards improving its services.
