Diwali 2021: The festive season has begun. The days of making and sharing sweets are also here. People make a variety of sweets at home to enhance the festivities and strengthen the bond.

Besides the most famous sweets like Kaju Katli, Gulab Jamun, Barfi, and Gujiya, there are the ones that are made of mawa which hold a special place. These sweets are extremely delicious.

However, if the mawa is adulterated or impure, it will not only ruin the fun of Diwali but can also impact your health. This Diwali, if you are going to buy mawa, keep a few things in mind and know how to check if it is adulterated or impure.

Keep These Things In Mind While Buying Mawa

  • The easiest way to identify pure mawa is to see if the mawa is soft, as adulterated or fake mawa is coarse. If you buy mawa at the shop, check the texture of mawa with your hands. If it is not soft, know that it is impure.

  • Try mawa before buying it. If mawa is real, it will not stick in the mouth but, if it sticks in the mouth, then know that it is not pure.

  • Take mawa in your hand and roll it into a small ball. If it does not stick together and falls apart, know that mawa is impure.

  • Rub the mawa on top of your thumb. If it is pure, it will smell of ghee.

  • If you go to buy mawa, taste it. If it tastes like raw milk then know that mawa is pure.
