New Delhi: Hariyali Teej is an auspicious festival celebrated by the Hindu community in the month of Sawan. It is usually celebrated two days before Nag Panchami. The month of Sawan is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. On the occasion, some married women and men observe strict fast also known as Nishivasar Nirjala Vrat during which the partner doesn't even consume water. They wear new clothes, usually, a green saree and bangles and worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati for a happy married life much like that of the deities.
