New Delhi: Guru Purnima is observed on the full moon day of Ashadha, the Hindu month. It is a day when people worship and honour their guru. The festival is also called Vyasa Purnima. Ved Vyasa, the author of the Hindu epic Mahabharat, was born on this day. On this day, Lord Buddha is also commemorated. Many think that Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon on this day.
