One day, Sonora went to church and heard a sermon about Mother’s Day. During this time, she got the idea to celebrate a special day for her father, hence Father’s Day.

Sonora’s father was born in June, so she decided to celebrate this day in June. Sonora filed a petition to have this day celebrated in June and convinced the church members, getting signatures from two people. However, her petition was not approved. Despite this, due to her affection for her father, Sonora was determined to celebrate a special day for him since her mother was not there. She then started a campaign and celebrated the first Father’s Day on June 19, 1910.

In 1916, American President Woodrow Wilson gave the green light to the suggestion of celebrating Father’s Day. Then, in 1966, President Lyndon B.
