New Delhi: Chaitra Navratri 2022 is coming to a conclusion with Durga Ashtami and Navmi on Saturday and Sunday. The nine-day festival is celebrated by worshipping the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga. Each of the nine forms of the Goddess gives a lesson about life from courage to generosity.
As Durga Ashtami will be celebrated on Saturday, many of the devotees would break their week-long fast of not consuming grains. The day will be celebrated by worshipping Goddess Durga and offering her bhog.
The same bhog will then be offered to nine ‘Kanyas’ or young girls who are considered to be the embodiment of Goddess Durga. For the bhog, halwa, puri, and chana will be cooked and then consumed by the devotees after offering prayers.
