Friendship Day 2024: Friendship day reminds us our old childhood days of friendship bands and greeting cards. Buying those special pieces of thread with designs on them, while also preparing some on our own, we would eagerly wait to reach school and tie them on the wrists of our friends. Friendship Day is celebrated by several countries at different times of the year. While, internationally, it is celebrated on July 30, India, and a few other countries celebrate it on the first Sunday of August. This year friendship day falls on August 4, making it a special occasion to celebrate the unique bonds between friends.

History Of Friendship Day:


Friendship Day was first proposed in 1958. The idea of Friendship Day was initially promoted by Joyce Hall, the organiser of Hallmark cards. Hall then proposed that they would take a day in gratitude for the invaluable relationships we have with our buddies, calling it Friendship Day. The idea was later taken internationally by the United Nations, which declared July 30th as the International Day of Friendship.


International Friendship Day has was proclaimed in 2011 by the United Nations General Assembly with an intent to promote friendship. That declaration also highlights the universal nature of using friendship for good to bring a more peaceful world.


Significance Of The Special Day For Friendship:


Friendship Day is celebrated to mark the strength and importance of friendship, its importance in our lives, and thank our friends for playing such valuable roles in our lives. 


On this day, people give each other gifts and spend time together as part of an effort to reinforce the importance of their relationship.
