New Delhi: Kisses may be the reason for unexplained infertility in women. A not-so-known herpes virus can be transmitted through the saliva, and can make women infertile.
Approximately 25% of female infertility cases are unexplained, which causes women to have a very few options other than expensive fertility treatments.
The researchers from the University of Ferrera, Italy, have found the link between infertility and HHV-6A. They and their team examined the uterus of a group of infertile women. They then discovered that around 43% of them were infected by this virus.
When they examined a group of fertile women, they could not find any such viruses. The researchers, scientists and their team hope that this discovery will lead to better treatments of the infertile women.
Anthony Komaroff, a professor at Harvard Medical School, claimed that this was a surprising discovery, and if proven correct, then it can help in treating many infertile women.
