New Delhi: Most of us love to wear ethnic and find them our go-to fashion. Be it a saree or suit, pairing our ethnic outfits with exquisite statement pieces makes us look elegant and royal. Saree is often considered one of the most elegant and stylish outfits and why won't it be, drape it in any way that you want and you can really stand out in the crowd. Talking about sarees, Isha Borah is one such fashion influencer, who loves wearing those "extremely elegant" pieces. Having started her journey during the pandemic, Isha has grown a follower base of over 1.5 M on Instagram and has never looked back since then.

In a candid conversation with ABP Live, Isha spoke about her love for sarees, and her inspiration behind styling a piece and also gave insights about sustainable fashion.

Here Are Some Excerpts From The Interview:

1. Can you share something about your Instagram journey?

I have been an Instagram user for a long time, but life shifted gears and opened a new door that I unknowingly entered to become a full-time content creator. This transformation occurred amidst the challenging circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic. Like countless others, I experienced the loss of my job in 2020, which prompted me to redirect my energy towards crafting social media content as it provided me solace during the turbulent phase of my career. However, everything changed when one of my reels unexpectedly went viral and there has been no looking back since then. But I have a long way to go. This is just the beginning.

2. Your reels are a lot about Indian outfits, especially sarees. So, what draws you towards it?

I find sarees to be extremely elegant. Plus, we Indians are blessed with so much diversity when it comes to the different types of sarees that are available in our country. Also, it's amazing how many different styles and draping techniques there are. And, you can wear one for any occasion especially if you know to play around the different draping styles. This is one piece of clothing that will always be evergreen and never out of style.

 3. You drape sarees in different styles, what is your inspiration behind them?

As I mentioned earlier, we are blessed when it comes to the different types of sarees that are available in our country and each state also has its own way of draping it. I find that pretty fascinating and elegant. It's this very aspect that inspires me to explore and attempt various draping styles. Being a fashion content creator, I thrive on experimenting with different looks, and what better way to feed my passion than by trying out diverse saree types in various drapes?

4. Your content is quite different from other fashion influencers. Can you throw some light on this?

Every creator has their unique approach to presenting their art, with all the little details that make it special. This I believe is very important as it helps your craft be distinct from others. Personally, I aim to keep my content concise and without any dialogues. I focus on the key elements that I want to highlight. Additionally, I strive to make my content relatable so that everyone can explore and experiment with the styles I showcase. Had I imitated other creators, I don’t think I would have been able to capture any interest from my beloved followers. And I really value them immensely. They shower their love on my content and I truly really respect that.

5. In your reels, it is seen that you reveal your face at times but at times you don't. Can you share the reason behind this?

I don’t think that’s true.. Haha.. I always show my face on my reels, even if it's just for a quick peek. I mostly try to keep the focus on the clothes and the styling, so I don't intentionally zoom in on my face.

6. Your bio says that you are an outfit repeater. So, what is your take on sustainable fashion?

Sustainability is crucial in today’s world as we are already reeling under the negative impact of climate change. The great news is that being sustainable doesn't have to break the bank. There are plenty of cool ways to embrace sustainability, like revamping your wardrobe with creative styling, upcycling your old clothes, or hitting up thrift stores. We have only one earth, and it's up to us to safeguard it. So, we should strive to do everything in our power to practise sustainability.

7. What is your favourite saree draping style?

I love the regular style of draping as it accentuates my body well. Also, I like the Nauvari drape, which is the Maharashtrian way of wearing a saree in a dhoti style.

8. June 19th is celebrated as World Ethnic Day, can you give a message for this occasion?

Embrace your ethnic background and let it define your unique identity. Dive into your cultural roots, celebrate them, and resist the urge to follow trends to become someone you're not.
