Two children and their parents were found dead at their rented house in Munduparambu in Malappuram district of northern Kerala on Thursday. The police said that the deceased was identified as Sabeesh (37), his wife Sheena (38) and their two children. Sabeesh was an employee of a private financial institution and Sheena was the manager of a major public sector bank.
The eldest child, Hari Govind, was a student of Malappuram Kendriya Vidyalaya.
According to PTI, the police said that the man and his wife were hanging from fans in the two adjacent rooms of their houses. The bodies of the six-year-old and two-and-a-half-year-old boys were found on the bed.
On Thursday, the incident came to light after their relatives informed the police. The relatives informed the police after they could not reach them through the phone.
A police officer said that Prima facie, it was a case of suicide. The officer told PTI, “As informed by the relatives, we reached their house in the night but we could not enter as it was locked from inside. So, we had to break open the door.”
However, he said that the cause of the death of the kids could be ascertained only after a post-mortem.
The police did not find any suicide note or other documents related to the couple taking the extreme step.
The police have currently launched a probe into whether the couple was facing any financial issues or other such crises. Further, investigation is on.
