Union Minister and BJP candidate from Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, criticized his opponent, Shashi Tharoor of Congress, accusing him of resorting to fear-mongering and spreading falsehoods. Chandrasekhar asserted his commitment to upholding free speech but warned that he would come after Tharoor if personal integrity was attacked. He expressed confidence that voters in Thiruvananthapuram would opt for change, citing a lack of delivery on promises by past MPs.

Union Minister and BJP candidate from Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, "He (Dr Shashi Tharoor) relies upon this type of third-rate politics, putting fear in people's minds and telling lies. In any case, I have clearly said that everybody is free to do politics."

"Article 19 protects everybody's free speech. But, if you trespass into lying about my personal integrity, then I will come after you. I will ensure under the law that the consequences will be served on you... But, the facts about these elections are far simpler to understand and fundamental," he said.

Additionally, Chandrasekhar outlined his development agenda and denounced what he termed as Congress's shameful tactics of spreading fear among vulnerable communities. He said, "I am confident that the people of Thiruvananthapuram will vote for change, from this 20-25 year of having MPs just making promises not delivering and then asking to be re-elected based on lies and fear. I have come here with a plan of development, prosperity, jobs, investments and skilling."

He said that they have put out a 5-year agenda of what they intend to do or what PM Narendra Modi's government intends to do for the people of Thiruvananthapuram.

Further, he expressed confidence that Thiruvananthapuram residents would reject such 'third-rate politics' in the upcoming election. He said, "... Despite being exposed for so many of their lies, Congress and congress-affiliated organisations started their propaganda by distributing leaflets to spread fear amongst the poor, uneducated and vulnerable people. This is absolutely shameful."
