The Congress demanded an explanation from the ruling CPI(M) leadership in Kerala and the Industries Minister in connection with the Centre ordering an investigation into the alleged violation by an IT company run by CM Vijayan's daughter Veena. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs ordered a probe based on complaints related to financial transactions between the private mineral company and Veena's IT firm.

The order issued recently created a political controversy in Kerala.

Authorities have confirmed that a joint director from the Office of the Director General of Corporate Affairs, under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, has initiated an investigation. Despite attempts to contact Joint Director Md Shakeel, there has been no response to messages and calls.

Congress MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan, who has consistently raised allegations against CM Vijayan and his daughter on this matter, disclosed that the CPI(M) state secretariat had previously issued a press statement defending Veena when he initially raised concerns about her IT company.

"In the press statement, they officially defended Veena saying it was a transparent dealing between two companies and there was nothing dubious in their transactions. So, I would like to know the reaction of the CPI (M) state secretariat on the matter in the present context," Kuzhalnadan said.

The Congress legislator further inquired about the stance of the Public Works Department Minister and Veena's husband, P A Mohammed Riyas, regarding the ongoing probe by the Centre. He expressed his understanding that, in addition to Veena's IT firm, responses were also requested from a private minerals company based in Kochi and the state-run Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Limited (KSIDCL).

A recent controversy in Kerala revolves around financial transactions between a Kochi-based private minerals company and Chief Minister Vijayan's daughter, Veena, along with her IT firm.

Union minister V Muraleedharan tweeted, "Welcome GoI's probe into Pinarayi Vijayan's daughter's company. This will expose CPI(M) Kerala's commission Raj & book culprits who helped CM's daughter get monthly commission without her company providing any service."
