A woman airline passenger who was allegedly irritated by the long hours taken for the check-in process reportedly made a hoax bomb claim at Cochin International Airport in Kerala. Later, the police detained the woman. 


According to PTI, the woman's claim delayed Mumbai-bound flight by an hour. 


The airport sources said, "The incident occurred during the check-in process for a Kochi-Mumbai flight that was scheduled to take off around 6 am."


The woman annoyed by the length of time it was taking for luggage screening claimed that there was a bomb in her luggage. As a result, the luggage screening process was intensified and caused a delay in the scheduled departure of the flight she was to take by around an hour, according to the sources.


Later, the woman was kept in the custody of Nedumbassery police station.


An officer of Nedumbassery police station said they were in the process of recording her statement and lodging an FIR against her and thereafter, her arrest would be recorded.


This is the second incident of a hoax bomb threat at Cochin International Airport within a week. 


On Thursday, Sabu Varghese, a 55-year-old man was arrested for making a hoax bomb threat at Cochin International Airport. The man claimed that there was a bomb in the luggage of another passenger boarding a Dubai-bound flight, said a.


The airport authorities conducted various checks and found that his claim was false. Later, the airport authorities handed over Sabu to the police. 


The police said that the man made a hoax bomb threat since he was irked by the long queues at the airport.


Sabu was also handed over to Nedumbassery police. 


The police booked him under various sections of Kerala Police Act. However, he was later released on bail.
