A man from Kerala fired shots at his fiancée's house after she allegedly called off their marriage in Kottakkal of Kerala. The incident occurred on Tuesday night and has led to the arrest of the accused Abu Tahir.

According to the police, Tahir used an air gun to fire shots at the woman's residence. The motive behind the attack was reportedly her decision to cancel their arranged marriage. Alerted by the commotion, neighbours intervened, caught Tahir, and handed him over to the police, as per a report on PTI.

Tahir was taken into custody on Tuesday night, and his arrest was officially recorded on Wednesday under IPC Section 308, which deals with attempts to commit culpable homicide.

The police have stated that the quick response from the neighbours prevented any further escalation of the incident. An investigation is underway to gather more details.

Earlier, Karnataka reported two murders by stalkers in different instances.

In May 2024, a stalker named Girish forcefully entered the victim's residence in Hubballi and fatally stabbed her. Before the attack, Girish had threatened the young woman, warning her that she would meet the same fate as Neha Hiremath, who was recently murdered on a college campus in Hubballi.

Hubballi Dharwad Police Commissioner, Renuka Sukumar said, "Accused Girish aka Vishwa has been arrested. He was absconding after stabbing Anjali to death on 15th May."

"He was on his way from Banglore to Goa and from there he wanted to go to Mumbai... He says that the girl has started blocking him and it enraged him, but that's his version which needs to be checked," he said.

Earlier, Neha Hiremath (23), the daughter of a Congress Councillor, was stabbed to death on a university campus in Hubballi by her former classmate.
