Anoop, an auto driver from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram won Onam bumper lottery worth Rs 25 crore, which was drawn by Kerala Finance Minister KN Balagopal. Anoop was sanctioned a loan of Rs 3 lakh by the bank to go to Malaysia and work as a Chef there.
Anoop bought the lucky ticket from Bhagavathy Agency on Saturday night. This year's Onam lottery price is the highest price money in the history of Kerala lottery. Besides, Rs 25 crore for the winner, Rs 5 crore and Rs 1 crore for the second prize and each for 10 persons as third prize, respectively. The lottery agent, who sold the ticket would also get the commission.

After winning a jackpot of Rs 25 crore lottery prize money, Anoop will get Rs 15.75 crore in his account after the tax deduction. 67 lakh Onam bumper tickets were printed this year and all tickets were sold out. Each ticket was priced at Rs 500. It was reported that the lottery is one of the sources of income for the Kerala government.
Lottery department head Abraham Ren said that the bumper lottery received huge support from the public this year. That became a great encouragement for agents and others in the sector, said an Onmanorama report.
During the draw the Onam bumper lottery, which was taken by the Kerala Finance Minister KN Balagopal, Minister Anthony Raju and MLA VK Prashant were also present at the event.
