At a time when Qatar is grabbing all attention for hosting World Cup starting from Sunday, the people of Mundakkamugal village in Kerala's Kochi district have also managed to grab some eyeballs by expressing their love for the sport and the showpiece event in a unique way.


17 people from the village, came together to buy a house for Rs 23 lakhs, to decorate it with flags of 32 teams taking part in the World Cup. Not only to decorate but also they have set up a big screen television to watch all the matches together.


"We planned to do something special for FIFA World Cup 2022. 17 of us purchased a house already on sale for Rs 23 lakhs & decorated it with flags of FIFA teams. We've also planned to gather together here & watch match on a big-screen TV," Shafeer PA, one of the buyers said as quoted by news agency ANI.

The buyers of the house have also painted the property with colours of Brazil, Argentina and Portugal flags. Besides this, they have also painted the sporting legends, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo portraits on the walls of it.


Not only painting portraits but also have erected cutouts of several other star players near the property. Shafeer further asserted that the world is gripped with football fever due to the world cup. Speaking about the purchase, one of the buyers said, all 17 have been gathering at the same spot for the last 20 years. And they eventually thought of buying a property in order to continue gathering at the house.
