During Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra, party MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that whoever contests for the party's top post should understand that it's just not an organisational post but an ideological post. He further said that the party's post represents a belief system and vision of India.

While addressing media in Ernakulam amid 3,500 km-long Bharat Jodo Yatra, Gandhi on being asked about the one piece of advice he'd give to the Congress chief, said, "You're taking a historic position which defines a particular view of India. Congress president is an ideological post. You represent a set of ideas, a belief system & vision of India."

"We're fighting a machine that has captured the institutional framework of this country, that has unlimited money & ability to buy, pressurise and threaten people. The outcome of that is what you've seen in Goa," he said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

When asked about raids on the Popular Front of India (PFI), Gandhi said, "All forms of communalism regardless of where they come from should be combated. There should be zero tolerance towards it."

"The Kerala leg has been a success. People have been coming out regardless of their affiliation. The success of the Yatra is based on the fact that majority of the people appreciate that India is not at war with itself," he said in an interaction with the media amidst the Kerala leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Ernakulam district.
