Tensions prevailed in New Mahe town after an unidentified man hurled a bomb at a BJP worker's residence on Saturday. The incident which was caught on camera has gone viral. According to PTI, an unidentified man hurled a bomb at a BJP worker’s house in Kerala’s New Mahe town.


Later, Kannur Police said, "New Mahe Police arrested Arun K, accused of throwing a bomb at the house of a BJP worker Sanoop."


The CCTV visuals showed a man walking towards the house of a BJP worker and suddenly throwing a bomb. In the impact, the bomb blast and fumes from the blast took over the place.

Last month, a low-intensity explosion was reported in Kerala's Kannur district with no casualties reported. According to news agency PTI, the explosion occurred in the Bavode area near Chakkarakkal, a politically volatile district. Police personnel were nearby when the blast occurred.


A bomb squad, accompanied by a dog squad, conducted searches, but the identity of the individual who threw the bomb has not been determined, reported ANI.










However, the blast occurred in the wake of clashes between members of the ruling CPI(M) and the BJP over the temple festival in Chakkarakkal Bavode. As a result, police patrols in the area were intensified.








Meanwhile, BJP candidate Suresh Gopi bagged the first seat for BJP from Thrissur in Kerala in Lok Sabha Elections 2024. In the political landscape dominated by Congress and Left parties, it came as a massive record victory for the saffron party.
