Chennai: The man who lost his wife and child after an under-construction metro pillar collapsed in Bengaluru on Tuesday recalled the mishap.

According to NDTV, Lohit, the husband of the woman said that he lost everything in the accident.

Recalling the death, he said that he along with his family was travelling in a two-wheeler to reach a concerned place.

However, he said that the accident took place in a fraction of a second and when he looked back the pillar had fallen on his wife and kid.

"There is nothing in my hand," he said, as per the report.

However, Lohit requested the government to ensure that such mishaps do not take place and to take necessary actions to avert the accident.

Madan Kumar, the father of the woman, said that he would not take the body of his daughter until the contract is canceled. He said, "Till the contractor's license is not cancelled, I won't take the body."

He also asked the authorities who gave the permission to construct such tall pillars and said that he will move to the court to do whatever can be done.

Vijayakumar, father-in-law of the woman who died in the incident said, "The contractor in charge of the Metro pillar construction clearly didn't take safety measures. The construction work at the incident spot should immediately stop."
