Amid controversy over using 'luxury plan' to travel to Delhi to seek drought funds from Centre, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah took a dig at BJP and told them to ask BJP workers "in what plane PM Modi travels in". The BJP workers on Friday criticisied Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and state minister Ahmed Khan for traveling in a 'private jet' amid Congress' crowdfunding campaign.

Responding to the controversy, Siddaramaiah said, "Ask BJP people in what PM Narendra Modi travels in. He travels alone in a 60-seater aircraft."

On Friday, the controversy started after state minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan shared a video of traveling in a plane with CM Siddaramaiah. Soon, the BJP supporters including in-charge of BJP's National Information & Technology Dept Amit Malviya started to hit out at the CM and the minister.

BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said, “The deputy chief minister of Karnataka tells his own MLAs and people that there is no money left for development because all the money has been splurged on the so-called promises made by the Congress party which they are unable to fulfil…"

"We see the ministers of the Karnataka government doing photo shoots and splurging in VVIP planes and jet planes at the cost of taxpayer money along with the chief minister to ask for funds for drought relief. Congress's mindset is to use any state it gets power in as an ATM. They did that in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. Now it has turned to Karnataka and Telangana,” he said.

However, Gujarat Congress president came out in support of Karnataka CM and the minister. Gujarat Congress president Shaktisinh Gohil said, “When PM Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat, he travelled in the costliest aircraft brought in especially for him from UAE.”
