President Droupadi Murmu, who is in Karnataka, attended the Foundation Week of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Bengaluru on Thursday. The President is set to visit Tamil Nadu on Friday to attend 8th convocation of Indian Maritime University at Chennai in Tamil Nadu. At the golden jubilee event at IIM Bangalore, Murmu highlighted the contribution of the institution to public policy research and skill development of youth.


Addressing the event in Bengaluru, President Murmu said, "The vision of IIM Bangalore is to be a global, renowned academic institution fostering excellence in management, innovation and entrepreneurship for business, government and society. The vision and mission of this prestigious institution are the noblest which open the doors of a future that allows you to be a force of positive change and rectitude."






 





 

"India is a nation on the move with a highly young and dynamic demography. Hence, the work done by IIM Bangalore’s Centre for Public Policy in the domain of public policy research and skill development of youth through the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship programme is not only necessary but also praiseworthy," she said.

 

The President advised the future wealth creators to imbibe Mahatma Gandhi’s lessons of life which are not inconsistent with the ethics of business. She highlighted that without ethics, success was sinful for Gandhiji. She advised students to aim for excellence in their professional and personal lives and live up to the great legacy which comes along with their association with IIM Bangalore, as per a release by PIB.











 









Droupadi Murmu also interacted with NS Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning's women entrepreneurs and officials at IIM Bangalore. The institute is celebrating golden jubilee celebrations in Karnataka.


According to the statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan, Murmu will grace the 8th convocation of Indian Maritime University at Chennai, Tamil Nadu on October 27.
