The National Commission for Women took cognisance of alleged sexual abuse scandal involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna and condemned the matter on Tuesday. The NCW also sent a letter to DGP Karnataka demanding a swift action from authorities to apprehend the accused and submit a detailed report within three days. 


The NCW said, "The National Commission for Women strongly condemns the alleged sexual abuse involving Mr. Prajwal Revanna. These events endanger women's safety and perpetuate a culture of violence."


"Hon’ble Chairperson of NCW @sharmarekha has taken suo motu cognisance in this matter and has sent a letter to DGP Karnataka demanding a swift action from authorities to apprehend the accused and submit a detailed report within three days," it said.

A political controversy erupted after sex tape emerged against Prajwal Revanna amid Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Prajwal Revanna is the grandson of former PM Deve Gowda. 


HD Kumaraswamy, as per PTI, stated: "So far, there are no direct allegations against Prajwal Revanna. If the charges are true, punishment should happen in accordance with law. There is no compromise. If Prajwal Revanna is wrong, our family is in agreement for action to be taken against him." 


The BJP, an alliance partner of JD(S) in Karnataka, demanded action if there was any truth to the allegations.


Later, JD(S) suspended Hassan MP over the allegations of sexual harassment of women. 


Meanwhile, Karnataka government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the alleged sex scandal involving the Hassan MP.
