A Bengaluru court denied bail to former Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing multiple charges of rape and sexual harassment. The 33-year-old ex-MP is currently in the custody of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) that was established to investigate his alleged involvement in the sex crimes.
The court's decision to reject Revanna's bail plea marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the serious charges against him.
On Wednesday, SIT team brought rape accused and suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna to his mother Bhavani Revanna's Chennambika residence in Holenarasipur, in connection with the third case of rape and sexual assault against him
Revanna's troubles intensified after explicit videos purportedly showing him surfaced just before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Following the emergence of these videos, Revanna departed for Germany on April 27, the day after the polls in Hassan. His departure prompted the Karnataka police to initiate an investigation into the allegations of sexual abuse against him.
Upon his return from Germany on May 31, Prajwal Revanna was promptly arrested. Earlier, the SIT with assistance from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had requested Interpol to issue a 'Blue Corner Notice' to locate him.
Meanwhile, Prajwal Revanna who sought his re-election from Hassan district was defeated in the LS polls.
