A Bengaluru court on Thursday extended the Special Investigation Team (SIT) custody of former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna until June 10. Revanna, who faces charges of rape and sexual abuse against multiple women, was initially remanded to SIT custody on May 31.
Prajwal Revanna, the 33-year-old grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, had recently failed in his bid to retain the Hassan Lok Sabha seat. His arrest and ongoing investigation have garnered significant attention.
The extension of custody was granted to allow further investigation. The SIT requested additional time to collect more evidence and conduct a comprehensive interrogation of the accused, as per a report on PTI.

On May 31, Revanna was arrested upon his arrival at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport from Germany. He had traveled to Germany on April 27, a day after the Hassan constituency went to the polls.
A 'Blue Corner Notice' was issued by Interpol to trace Revanna's whereabouts, following a request by the SIT through the Central Bureau of Investigation. An arrest warrant had been issued against Revanna on May 18 by the Special Court for Elected Representatives after the SIT filed an application.
Revanna's arrest is linked to a case registered in Holenarasipura, Hassan district, on April 28, where he was accused of sexually harassing a 47-year-old former maid. In this case, he is listed as accused number two, while his father, MLA H D Revanna, is the primary accused. Prajwal Revanna faces charges in three cases of sexual assault, including allegations of rape.
He was also suspended from JD(S).
The cases of sexual abuse came to light after pen-drives containing explicit videos allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna were circulated in Hassan just before the Lok Sabha polls on April 26.
