Chennai: Around 137 students of a private nursing and paramedical college in Shakthinagar area of Mangaluru were hospitalised with complain of food poisoning in different hospitals on Monday. The students allegedly suffered from food poisoning, stomach ache and dysentery after having food at their hostel mess.


However, all of them are reportedly out of danger.


According to ANI, “Around 137 students of a private nursing and paramedical college in Shakthinagar area of Mangaluru were admitted to different hospitals in the city yesterday, after they complained of food poisoning, allegedly after having food at their hostel mess.”






Of the total, around 52 students were admitted to AJ Hospital and 42 students to Father Muller Hospital, Kankanady. 


However, the reason for the food poisoning is yet to be ascertained. Mangaluru Police Commissioner said, “We came to know that since 2 am about 137 students complained of food poisoning, stomach ache, loose motions, vomiting & have been admitted to City Hospital. About 137 students were admitted to different hospitals. We're trying to find out the reason.”


Meanwhile, the district health inspector said that all of them are out of danger and there are no casualties. Dr. Ashok, District Health Inspector said, “They have been admitted due to food poisoning. There is no need to worry or panic. We will visit the hostel, interact with the warden and find out everything. All students are out of danger. There is no casualty."

Meanwhile, the college did not allegedly share details of the health issue with the families of the students.
