Karnataka BJP President B Y Vijayendra announced that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Karnataka on February 10. During his visit, Shah is expected to participate in both party-related and official events in Bengaluru and Mysuru. Vijayendra mentioned that Shah is likely to hold a meeting with the state BJP core committee members as well.

"Amit Shah ji is coming to Karnataka, to Bengaluru on February 10. We will be having a Lok Sabha cluster leaders meeting in Bengaluru. Four Lok Sabha segments will come under one cluster," Vijayendra said.

He further added, "There are indications of his attendance at a government event, although we haven't received official confirmation yet. However, his visit is confirmed for February 10. In the evening, around 5 PM, he will be in Sutturu (in Mysuru) to participate in the Sutturu Jathra (fair)."

Vijayendra also mentioned ongoing discussions between the BJP and JD(S) regarding seat-sharing for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Out of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, the BJP had secured 26 seats in the 2019 elections, including the support for independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh in Mandya. The Congress and JD(S) had each won one seat.

Earlier, BJP formed headlines in Karnataka after former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar re-joined BJP in the presence of former CM-senior party leader BS Yediyurappa and state BJP President BY Vijayendra at BJP Headquarters in Delhi last month.

On re-joining BJP, former Karnataka CM Jagadish Shettar said, "The party gave me a lot of responsibilities in the past. Due to some issues, I went to the Congress party. In the last 8-9 months, there were a lot of discussions, also BJP workers asked me to come back to the BJP. Yediyurappa ji and Vijayendra ji also wanted me to come back to the BJP. I am rejoining the party with the belief that Narendra Modi ji has to become the PM again."
