Hyderabad: As many as seven people were killed and 26 were injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a truck on the outskirts of Hubballi in Karnataka, said Police. While expressing grief, PM Modi announced an ex gratia to the families of people who lost lives in the accident.    


The bus was travelling towards Bengaluru from Kolhapur. As the bus approached Hubballi, the truck collided with the passenger bus killing six people on the spot. One person succumbed to injuries while taking him to the hospital. About 26 people travelling in the bus were severely injured and were rushed to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi for treatment. The drivers of both the vehicles died on the spot.

After knowing about the accident, the police immediately rushed to the spot and examined it on Tuesday morning. The accident is believed to have been caused by the negligence and speeding of the bus driver. Police said the bus driver collided with the truck while trying to overtake a tractor. The truck was heading towards Dharwad. Police have registered a case over the road accident and are investigating the issue.


Local leaders urged authorities to provide better medical care to the injured passengers. Police also said that the death toll is likely to rise.


PM Modi Announces Ex Gratia Of Rs 2 Lakh


Prime Minister Modi has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives due to a mishap in Hubballi, Karnataka. The Prime Minister has also announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakhs each to the families of people who died in the accident and Rs 50,000 to those injured in the incident.
