The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has launched a search for Bhavani Revanna, mother of suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, in connection with the kidnapping of a woman from KR Nagar. Over the past 24 hours, the SIT conducted searches at multiple locations as she was not found at her residence in Holenarasipura, Hassan district, sources reported on Sunday.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara confirmed that efforts are underway to "arrest" Bhavani, who is currently "absconding." He added that she is in hiding but will be apprehended soon.
"They (Special Investigation Team) are searching for her (Bhavani) to arrest her. It's not known where she is. She will be arrested once she is found. It is a due process of law and nothing else," Parameshwara told reporters in Bengaluru, as per a report on PTI.
The SIT had issued a notice to Bhavani Revanna, requesting her presence at her home on June 1 for questioning in connection with a kidnapping case linked to allegations of sexual abuse against her son. When SIT officials arrived at her residence, 'Chennambika Nilaya,' she was not there.
On Saturday evening, two women lawyers visited 'Chennambika Nilaya' and met with the SIT officials. They did not disclose the purpose of their meeting.
It has been reported that Bhavani communicated through her lawyers that she was unwell and would appear before the SIT soon, as per PTI.
The SIT conducted searches at various locations, including Mysuru, Hassan, Bengaluru, Mandya, and Ramanagara. They also searched the homes of Bhavani's relatives in an attempt to locate her, but she was not found, according to sources.
Woman Kidnap Case
Meanwhile, Bhavani's husband, Holenarasipura JD(S) MLA H D Revanna, is currently out on bail in the same case.
Days after alleged sexual abuse videos related to Prajwal Revanna surfaced in Hassan, a victim in Mysuru was reportedly abducted by a confidant of Revanna. Based on the complaint of the 20-year-old son of the victim, a case was registered. In the complaint, the complainant stated that his mother appeared in the video, where she was tied up and allegedly raped by Prajwal.
