The deceased woman was at a paddy field near her house when she was attacked by a wild elephant. She has a 20-year-old son. The locals demanded setting up a special task force to bring the elephant menace under control.
The villagers said that the elephant menace has been on the rise and farmers are in a panic state after the recent attack to work in the estates, said The New Indian Express report.
It's also reported that three people have been killed in this region in last three months. Meanwhile, Mudigere taluk coffee growers president Balakrishna sought the Centre's intervention in the issue. He further said that task force should be constituted and the issue should be brought under control before farmers abandon cultivation completely due to the fear being tramped by wild elephants.
