Chennai: The members of Sri Rama Sena Hindustan were hired for Rs 5 lakh to kill Arbaaz Aftab in Karnataka over an alleged interfaith relationship with a Hindu woman, police investigations revealed on Friday. A Muslim youth, Arbaaz was found beheaded and dumped off the track in Khanapur town of Belagavi on September 28. 


According to a report in The News Minute, Belagavi police arrested 10 people on Friday including the woman's parents and president of Sri Rama Sena Hindustan Pundalik Mutgekar in Khanapur in Belagavi in connection with the crime. The arrested were identified as Pundalika Mutagekara, mediator Kutbuddin Allahbaksha Bepari, the women's mother Shushila Erappa Kumbara, her father Erappa Basavanne Kumbara, other Sri Rama Sena Hindustan members Maruti Prahlad Sugate, Manjunatha Tukarama, Ganapati Gnaneshwar Sugate, Prashanth Kallapa Patil, Praveen Shankar Pujeri and Shridhar Mahadev Done.


It is reportedly said that the girlfriend's parents hired Pundalik for Rs 5 lakh to kill Arbaaz since it was an interfaith relationship.

On the day of the crime, mediator Bepari took Arbaaz to the railway station while other accused were waiting for him with weapons. As soon as Abaaz arrived, they attacked him and also reportedly chopped the torso and legs before beheading the victim, said the report.


The parents of the woman apart from the Rs 5 lakh payment also agreed that they would take the blame for the murder instead of prime accused Mutagekara. However, as the post-mortem reports revealed gruesome details of the murder, the police started questioning the parents thinking that they are incapable of committing the murder alone. Following this, the involvement of Mutagekara came to light and all the accused were arrested.
