Two persons were arrested for allegedly harassing and menacing a family of four traveling by car in Bengaluru's Madiwala area on Sunday. The alleged perpetrators purportedly pursued the car on a motorcycle through the city, banging on its windows and attempting to open its door. According to reports from Deccan Herald, one of the suspects informed the police that the altercation ensued when the car driver allegedly gave a misleading signal and made inappropriate gestures towards them.

The event occurred on Sunday night as the occupants of the car—a man, his wife, their 1.5-year-old child, and mother-in-law—were traveling from Madiwala to Hosur.

A purported video of the incident also went viral on social media. In the video, the woman was heard saying that the miscreants were opening the door.

In an interview with The Indian Express, the man, who preferred to remain anonymous, recounted that when they approached gate 5 of St John’s Hospital, the men started shouting at them due to the indicator signal or something, but then continued to chase them for the next 5 km.

Later, a complaint was promptly lodged with Madiwala police. They swiftly identified and apprehended Jagannath, the primary suspect who drove and owned the scooter. Additionally, Tejas, another man on the two-wheeler, has been detained. However, a third suspect named Kanna remains at large.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Bengaluru South East) C K Baba stated that the confrontation between the victims and the accused began with an exchange of words regarding a flashing indicator light.

A senior official stressed the importance of citizens promptly reporting incidents to the police via 112 for swift response and action. They also urged everyone to abide by road traffic rules to ensure road safety for all.
