Kannada film director SK Bhagavan passed away on Monday in Bengaluru at the age of 90.
"I was very saddened to hear the news of the renowned director of the Kannada film industry SK Bhagavan's death. I pray that God gives strength to his family to bear this pain," tweets Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai.
He also mentioned some of the vintage classic films directed by the renowned duo of B Dorai Raj and SK Bhagavan. The Dorai-Bhagwan duo has directed a total of 49 films of which more than 28 movies are based on novels. And all the movies have garnered a great success at the box office.

SK Bhagavan was born in 1933 in Karnataka's Mysore. He was interested in acting since childhood and joined Theater while he was studying in school. He acted in many plays with Hirannaya Mitra Mandi. In 1956, he started his career in Kannada cinema as an assistant director with the film 'Bhagyodaya' under Kanagal Prabhakar Shastry.
After his directorial career, he became the principal of the Adarsh Film Institute and imparted his experience to several new directors and actors.
Bhagavan was admitted to a hospital in December 2022 and he was treated for breathing problems.
