Former Karnataka Minister and Shivamogga MLA KS Eshwarappa on Wednesday said that anti-nationalists like PFI and SDPI across the country have the backing of Congress. Amid tensions gripped his constituency, Shivamogga, Eshwarappa while issuing a warning to the Muslim community on Tuesday said that if Muslims do not control their youth, the Hindus will.
While speaking to media persons on Wednesday, Eshwarappa said, "I am directly saying that not only in Shivamogga, not only in South but across the country in all states it is Congress who is supporting anti-nationalists like PFI, SDPI."
Meanwhile, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) said the government should ban organisations like SDPI and PFI.

After the clashes erupted between two groups over the banner of Savarkar in Shivamogga's Amir Ahmed circle, Eshwarappa lashed out at the Muslim community and said that if Hindu society really stands up, Muslim goondas will not survive.
"The government is making all attempts to maintain peace, I'm not saying all Hindus and Muslims are involved in such things. Hindu society is strong, it is not weak. If Hindu society really stands up, Muslim goondas will not survive, but Hindus don't want to take law into hands and want the government to take action," Eshwarappa said on Tuesday.
On August 15, when a group of people removed the banner of Savarkar to install Tipu Sultan's poster at Amir Ahmed Circle in Shivamoggas, tension gripped the city as both groups started attacking and violence erupted. A man was stabbed amidst the violence. The situation was tense on Tuesday when police shot a man, Mohammed Zabiullah, who is suspected of stabbing Dharam Singh, after he allegedly attacked the police.
