Congress MLA Priyank Kharge slammed BJP after the party MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal made remarks against former Chief Minister Siddaramiah. Congress leader Priyank said that Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, his cabinet and the entire BJP unit lost their credibility.

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a roadshow in Belgavi and laid foundation stones for several development projects in Shivamogga and Belagavi, Priyank claimed that the charisma of PM Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah is not working in the state.

On the occasion of Shivaji Jayanti, MLA Basanagouda Patil lashed out at Siddaramaiah, who earlier commented that he is a Hindu but he is against Hindutva. Speaking at Vijayapura, Patil alleged that Congress is doing politics in the name of Tipu.

"It is not right to bring this kind of narrative into the politics of the state. We're Kannadigas and we prefer progressive politics. You need to talk about development activities and then get votes," news agency ANI said quoting Congress MLA Priyank Kharge, in response to Patil's remarks.

"CM Bommai, his cabinet and the entire BJP unit have lost credibility. The charisma of PM Modi, Amit Shah and JP Nadda is not working here and hence they are resorting to such things," the Congress leader added.

During his Karnataka visit on Monday, PM Modi hit out at the Congress during a public meeting in Belagavi, accusing the party of ignoring veteran leader Mallikarjun Kharge. PM Modi claimed that the Congress had insulted Kharge, who hails from Karnataka.

The Prime Minister added that the Congress has insulted Karnataka and its leaders, whereas the BJP government has transferred a significant amount of money to farmers' bank accounts without any middlemen or corruption.
