Several buses parked at a bus depot in Bengaluru went up in flames on Monday as a massive engulfed the depot. As per visuals shared by news agency ANI, huge black fumes of smoke could be seen rising as the buses caught fire under a metal structure in Bengaluru's Veerabhadranagar area. 


Firefighting teams were present at the spot trying to douse the flame, reported PTI, adding that the fire is suspected to start from the garage that later spread to the buses whilet the exact cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. 


"At least four buses which were parked at a garage caught fire. Our fire-fighters are at the spot trying to douse the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained," a senior Fire department official told PTI. 






No casualties or injuries have been reported so far. 


In a similar incident, a fire triggered by a short-circuit led to a blast in a house in Haryana's Sonipat where some explosive materials were kept, although no one was injured in the incident, said the police on Monday. 


The man who kept the explosives materials inside the house has been arrested after the incident took place on Sunday, a police official told news agency PTI. 


"Irfan had kept the explosive material sulphur mixed with potash in the room. An iron shutter was blown several feet away in the explosion. Luckily, no one was passing on the road otherwise it could have led to injuries. A table and a plastic chair kept in the room were burned," the official said.

Irfan's family was in another room when the explosion took place, he added.


On being asked whether the explosives were stored illegally, the police officer said that the real purpose for storing the material will be known after questioning him at length. 


Irfan was booked under IPC Section 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) and other provisions as well as the Explosive Substances Act, he added.
