Roads transformed into rivers, several homes almost submerged, huge traffic snarls, power outages, and a drinking water crisis threw life out of gear in Bengaluru on Monday following overnight rains. Vehicular movement has been brought to a standstill, with boats and tractors pressed into service in certain parts in India's IT hub.

Several lakes in the city were overflowing and stormwater drains were flooded, affecting the low-lying areas.

A forecast of more rainfall on Tuesday has caused panic among the people residing in low-lying areas. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert till September 7 for Bengaluru.
