A five-member fact-finding team from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) arrived in Belagavi on Saturday to gather first-hand information about Belagavi woman assault case. During the visit, the fact-finding team said that nobody was willing to give a statement and everybody was scared. A 42-year-old tribal woman in Belagavi was reportedly subjected to an assault, stripped, and paraded naked by a group of individuals after her son eloped with a woman from another community.
BJP MP Locket Chatterjee said, "Nobody here is willing to give a statement, everybody is scared. This means that women are scared here under the Congress Government...We want CM to come here and give a statement on this situation...We want the Congress party to pay some respect to women it's being done under the leadership of PM Modi. They have made the government with the votes of women so they should pay a little respect to women."

Another fact-finding team member and BJP MP Aprajita Sarangi said, "We shouldn't forget that it's a Tribal society so here more strictness is needed...There are two types of actions, first preventive and second punitive. Punitive action is being taken now as 11 people have been arrested and Inspector In charge was suspended...Where was prevention? Why didn't Congress make a positive environment that a person is afraid of doing such a heinous crime?"
"We went to the hospital and we spoke to the woman. We also went to the village and we spoke to all the people who had assembled there. We spoke to the mother victim's husband...We spoke to the inspector in charge who had just been appointed there in the aftermath of the suspension of the then-inspector in charge. We collected lots of information and we are aghast," she said.
However, all BJP workers demanded accountability from the Congress government. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said, "I have already told that due to the careless and casual approach of the Congress government, this has happened and already NHRC has asked for the reported... The government should take it seriously...."
