Union Home Minister Amit Shah's gesture requesting BY Vijayendra, son of former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, to provide him the bouquet instead of his father has set the ball rolling in political circles in the poll-bound state.

On Friday, Shah arrived at the residence of Yediyurappa to have breakfast. Both Yediyurappa and Vijayendra were at the entrance to welcome the national leader. However, once Shah arrived at the residence, he requested Yediyurappa to pass on the bouquet to his son.

Shah said, "Yediyurappa Ji aap bouquet iss ko de do (give bouquet to him)."

Yediyurappa gave the bouquet he had in his hand to his son. Later, Vijayendra gave the bouquet and welcomed Amit Shah.

It may be recalled that BJP National General Secretary C.T. Ravi had objected to Yediyurappa's statement of allocating a party ticket to his son B.Y. Vijayendra. Minister for Housing V. Somanna also locked horns with Vijayendra. Somanna, as per IANS said, "He is just a son of Yediyurappa and many people like him are around him".

On the other hand, Congress was quick to comment that Yediyurappa is being sidelined in the party by state BJP and CM. Siddaramaiah, LoP Karnataka said, “It is clear. (BS) Yediyurappa & (BY) Vijayendra are sidelined by BJP and the Chief Minister...I don't know what transpired in that meeting, I am also not aware of its outcome. The only thing is, it is a fact that Yediyurappa is sidelined by State BJP and the CM.”
