Seven people died in an accident near Karnataka's Hospet on Monday evening and those injured were rushed to the hospital. The accident took place between two mining tipper lorries and a cruiser. There were 13 people in the cruiser and the condition of the injured has been learnt to be critical, Vijayanagar SP Srihari Babu has told news agency ANI. SP said that two mining tipper lorries collided with an SUV near the tunnel on the outskirts of Hospet city in Vijayanagara district. According to him, the deceased include three men, three women and a 5-year-old girl and have been identified as Uma, Kenchavva, Bhagya, Anila, Goni Basappa, Bhimalingappa and Balaka Yuvaraja, residents of Hospet city, as per ANI.

 

The incident occurred when the SUV was returning from Koolahalli Goni Basaveshwara Temple in Harapanahalli taluk of Vijayanagara district. "There were 13 people in the cruiser and the condition of the injured is critical. The injured have been admitted to a government hospital", added the police, as quoted by ANI.



 

PTI quoted police sources as saying that a truck was coming from Chitradurga towards Hospet, when its steering wheel broke off and the vehicle ran on the opposite side road. At the same time, an SUV was coming from Harapanahalli towards Hospet. The out-of-control lorry truck collided with that car, which then overturned. 






PTI reported the drivers of both lorries were injured in the incident and have been admitted to Hospet Government Hospital.


 


11 Dead In Tamil Nadu Firecracker Godown Explosion


In another incident, eleven people, including three women, died after an explosion in a firecracker godown in Tamil Nadu's Ariyalur district on Sunday, following which a case has been registered against the owner and the manager.


The incident occurred around 10:20 PM in Vetriyur Madura, Viragalur village in the Ariyalur district. The Ariyalur District Collector, Anne Mary Swarna told the media that a case has been registered against the owner and the manager of the godown and they have been arrested.


Swarna and District Superintendent of Police (SP) K Feroze Khan Abdullah reached the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident.
