Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Jul 9 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Sunday termed the killing of 18 people due to consumption of spurious liquor as "unfortunate" and said that an investigation has been ordered to probe the incident.
"The incident is unfortunate, an investigation has been ordered and strong action will be taken against responsible people. This kind of incident is unacceptable. I have given strict instructions to Azamgarh district officials. I have received the report from them, we will take action accordingly," Muarya told ANI.
At least seven people fell victim to spurious liquor taking the toll up to 18 in Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh city.
The District Magistrate has ordered a Magistracy probe in to the matter.
Meanwhile, the police has raided various dubious locations and arrested nine liquor traders in the connection.
The police has constituted of five teams to nab the culprits. The Excise department is also making relentless efforts to bring guilty to book. (ANI)
