Surat (Gujarat) [India], Nov 8 (ANI): Minister of State (MoS) for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh on Wednesday, taking a dig at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, said the latter should visit Surat more often as his visit gives Bharatiya Janata Party more support.
"We welcome Rahul Gandhi in Surat, as our past experience has proved that the more he comes here, the more support BJP will consolidate," MoS Jitendra Singh told ANI.
Singh's comments come in the wake of Rahul Gandhi's visit to Surat, for the upcoming Gujarat Elections.
Rahul Gandhi, who is currently in the state, will participate in a candle-light vigil in Gujarat's Surat as part of 'Black Day' protest on the first anniversary of demonetisation and will also interact with the traders.
Speaking on Congress party's stance on demonetisation, Singh observed that the party and their leadership, is upset.
"They are disturbed by the curtailment in the black money but the entire country of 125 crore people with more than 70 percent population below the age of 40 has realised over the years, the enormous benefits of demonetisation, it has reduced crime, it has terror, it has reduced parallel economy," added Singh.
