Noida (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Jan.19 (ANI); Over 35 girls and women from villages in Uttar Pradesh's Noida area have been empowered and skilled to be in a position to lead self-reliant lives.

Women and girls hailing from villages such as Asgarpur, Raipur and Chalera attended the programme, where they were provided free raw materials and stitching machines to facilitate skill enhancement over a period of three months.

This empowering and skilling programme was undertaken jointly by Amity Humanity Foundation (AHF) and the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) as part of the latter's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

AHF trainers not only taught them the nuances of stitching, but also, worked on enhancing their soft skills, including communication skills.

The women and girls also received yoga lessons to ensure holistic well being. The training was impoarted under the Skill Development Mission.

The course concluded today. Participants were awarded certificates by the AHF.

Pooja Chauhan- Vice Chairperson, Amity Humanity Foundation stated that the programme aims at not only empowering the trainees but also strengthen the country through them. She encouraged them to stay disciplined, smiling in their lives and keep their village and country neat and clean, thereby, contributing to "Swatch Bharat Abhiyaan".

Komal Chauhan, a trainee participant from Asgarpur village thanked Amity and ONGC for the self-empowering programme that she felt has given them a pedestal to move ahead in their lives with confidence. (ANI)
