Nitish urges Centre to allocate funds to strengthen subordinate judiciary

Patna (Bihar) [India] August 6 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday urged the Centre to allocate funds to strengthen the subordinate judiciary.

Kumar requested the Centre for funds to provide speedy justice to the litigants.

Urging the Centre for allocation of funds, Kumar said that Bihar's budget, which was around Rs. 25,000 crore in 2005, was now Rs. 1.40 lakh crore.

He added that the Janata Dal (United) had already sanctioned Rs. 169 crore for expanding the Patna High Court.

The Chief Minister was addressing a function to launch the 'Tele Law: Mainstreaming Legal Aid Through Common Service Centre' scheme.

According to the scheme a common villager can have access to legal aid services with the help of the para-legal volunteers at the Common Service Centre (CSC), which would be equipped with computers and Internet facility.

This was the first function at a large scale after the formation of the JD(U)-BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government in Bihar, where Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and the Chief Minister shared the stage. (ANI)
