Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Feb. 12 (ANI): A group of veteran defence personnel conducted a peace protest at Mumbai on Monday to demand the withdrawal of the FIR against Major Aditya Kumar and the army in connection with the firing at Shopian last month.
They demanded an unconditional withdrawal of the FIR, terming it to be illegal.
A veteran army person told ANI, "We are sitting on dharna to demand the withdrawal of the illegal FIR against Major Aditya Kumar. "
Another Navy veteran deplored this action and condemned the government to levy charges against the Army for conducting their duties.
He said that "Section 302 for murder and Section 306 for an attempt to murder have been applied on the accused of carrying out their duties which could have serious implications for the country in future".
On Friday, father of Major Aditya Kumar had filed a plea in the Supreme Court seeking the withdrawal of an FIR against his son.
The Supreme Court today stayed the FIR against Major Aditya and issued notice to the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir government, seeking reply in two weeks. (ANI)
