Beijing [China], Mar. 2 (ANI): A Chinese diplomat on Friday advised the United States to adopt a change of tactics with respect to its bilateral relations with Korea as the latter poses a massive nuclear threat worldwide.

Fu Ying said in an article published in the Daily Telegraph that the United States and the ruling Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) need to come face-to-face to discuss the nuclear issue.

She said, "Peace on the Peninsula isn't possible without settling the nuclear issue, which means the United States and the DPRK must talk directly".

She further added that the entire focus of the US and its allies is on applying restrictions and sanctions Korea instead persuading the latter to give up its nuclear program.

She noted though at the same time the application of sanctions have impacted the basic economic needs of Korea that have affected the general population it has not deterred the country from financing its nuclear program.

China further reiterated its suspension-for-suspension program as part of which the country urged DPRK to suspend its nuclear and missile programs and the United States and the Republic of Korea to suspend their large-scale military exercises.

"The United States and its allies need to understand the necessity of compromise, instead of taking a zero-sum approach, only considering their own interests and refusing to give the other side a chance for survival and development," she added. (ANI)
