Bypoll Results: Congress hits a ton in Rajasthan by winning Ramgarh seat; JJP workers hurl stones at a counting centre in Haryana's Jind

By Poll Results LIVE: After trailing in the early hours of counting, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to establish a comfortable lead over Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) candidate Digvijay Singh Chautala in the Jind assembly seat in Haryana. After 9 rounds of counting, BJP candidate Krishna Middha was seen leading with 37561  votes. JJP was trailing behind with 25325 votes while Congress' Randeep Singh Surjewala was on the third spot with 15776 votes. In a setback for main opposition Indian National Lok Dal, which held the seat, its candidate Umed Singh Redhu was trailing at fourth spot. The JJP has put its weight behind Digvijay Singh Chautala, the younger son of jailed leader Ajay Singh Chautala, who broke away from the INLD and floated the party last month. On the other hand, Congress candidate Shafia Zubair won the Ramgarh assembly poll in Rajasthan by defeating her nearest BJP rival Sukhwant Singh by a margin of 12,228 votes.  With this, Congress's tally has risen to 100 in the 200-member Rajasthan assembly. Congress has the support of one RLD MLA.

BJP gets unassailable lead of 15,900 votes in Jind by-election.

In Ramgarh (Rajasthan): Shazia Zuber has got 57,216 votes till now, while BJP's Sukhwant Singh has got 41,422. BSP's Jagat Singh, son of veteran Congress leader Natwar Singh, stands third with 12,618 votes.
Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) candidate Digvijay Singh Chautala is leading over other candidates after the first two rounds of counting on Thursday for the Jind assembly seat in Haryana while Congress is leading in the Ramgarh assembly seat in Rajasthan with a margin of 15,794 votes after counting of 12 rounds out of 20 ended.
Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) leading with 11226 votes at the end of third round of counting. BJP 9350 votes, Congress 5813 votes, Loktantra Suraksha Party (LSP) 2649 votes and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) 1760 votes
Jind by-election trends: Jannayak Janata Party (JJP)'s Digvijaya Chautala leading with 7892 votes at the end of second round of counting. BJP 6554 votes, Congress 3923 votes and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) 1365 votes
Congress candidate Safia Khan leading with 10,000 votes after ten round of counting in Ramgarh assembly election. After the first round of counting Congress' Safia got 6,557 votes and was leading by 4,246.
At the end of first round counting in Jind assembly election, Haryana, JJP leads with 3639 votes, BJP with 2835, Congress secured 2169 and LSP and INLD with 705 and 992 respectively. JJP is leading by 800 votes.
As JJP leads by 800 votes after the first round in Jind assembly election in Haryana, Congress's Randeep Surjewala is trailing behind.

The counting of votes for Jind and Ramgarh assembly seat by-election began at 8 am on Thursday amid high security. Counting for Ramgarh bypolls is being held at Arts College in Ramgarh. There will be a total of 20 rounds starting 8 am.

Zubair got 44.77 per cent votes by securing 83,311 votes while Singh secured 71,083 votes, the officials of the Rajasthan election department reportedly said.

BSP candidate and former union minister Natwar Singh's Son, Jagat Singh, was on third spot. He secured 24,856 votes, they said.

In total, 20 candidates contested the Ramgarh election on January 28.

The election was necessitated due to the death of a BSP candidate ahead of December 7 Rajasthan elections.
